Registration of WAZO leave

In eveHRyday, you can register three types of leave under the Work and Care Act (WAZO): maternity leave, birth leave (partner leave), and parental leave. For maternity- and parental leave, we distinguish between a regular and supplementary part, respectively (paid and unpaid).

Registration in eveHRyday

Go to the relevant employee; in the horizontal menu, you will see WAZO listed; click on it. You can also click on WAZO in the left menu and then select the relevant employee. Then choose the desired leave type. You can choose from the following 5 leave types:

  1. Maternity leave
  2. Parental leave
  3. Supplementary paternity leave
  4. Paid parental leave
  5. Unpaid parental leave

Next, you will enter the data that the payroll department needs to correctly process the leave in the payroll administration; fields marked with an * are mandatory for this. The data we request is listed below.

  1. Date of birth* (only current date or past date)
  2. Child's name* (or fill in child 1, child 2, etc. due to GDPR)
  3. Start date* (we will calculate the expiry date based on rules, see below under "What we subsequently calculate automatically").
  4. End date (optional and may differ (only earlier) from the expiry date)
  5. Number of hours per week*
  6. Schedule* (for example: taking 4 hours of parental leave every Friday afternoon)
  7. Payment via: Payroll Administration or UWV*
  8. Daily wage (optional because this is not always immediately known; you can still provide this after you have received the decision regarding the daily wage)
  9. Add attachment

After you have entered all mandatory data, you choose to create; we will send a notification of this to the same email address to which other changes are sent. We do this for both new and modified registrations.

What we then automatically calculate:

The total entitlement and the expiry date:

  1. Pregnancy and maternity leave: A total of at least sixteen weeks of leave. After the birth, there is always an entitlement to at least ten weeks of maternity leave. Unused pregnancy leave is added to the maternity leave.
  2. Birth leave: once the weekly working hours expire, it expires four weeks after the child's date of birth.
  3. Additional birth leave: Provided that the employee has taken the full regular birth leave of one working week, they may make use of the additional birth leave. This additional birth leave amounts to five weeks and must be taken within six months after the birth of the child.
  4. Paid parental leave: The nine weeks of paid parental leave must be taken within the first year of the child's life.
  5. Unpaid parental leave: The total entitlement to parental leave amounts to twenty-six times the weekly working hours, per child. If a maximum of nine weeks of paid parental leave have been taken, a maximum of seventeen weeks of unpaid parental leave remains. Unused paid weeks can also be taken as unpaid leave. It expires on the child's eighth birthday. We automatically calculate the maximum number of remaining weeks based on what has been used for paid parental leave.

Editing WAZO registrations

Once created, you can always edit a WAZO registration later, for example if the number of hours per week changes, there is a decision you wish to add, or the definitive end date is known.

Closing and reopening.

To maintain a clear overview of ongoing WAZO leaves, you can close a WAZO registration; it will then disappear from the standard overview but can always be found under the filter "closed". From there, you can also always reopen a closed leave.
